The Justicars of The Mark
Back to: Main Page
The Justicars of the mark are members of the holy bloodline of the original Justicars, whom the god Rallyn blessed with the last remains of his power. For all anyone knows, it’s all that remains of any Gods’ power here on Edrilyn. (go read the history lesson for more details on all of that.
Unfortunately, when the original Justicars set-out to render aid to the sick & wounded at the tail-end of the Godswar, they found the people of Edrilyn downright hostile towards them. Everyone blamed Rallyn (rightfully so) for sending the world into darkness and the Justicars were forced into hiding from angry mobs and inquisition-minded druids alike. Even today, The Druidic Council has a standing order to all the peoples of Edrilyn: bring Justicars to them, dead or alive. Of course, if you bring them alive, the druids will quickly change that. No reward – just the satisfaction that you cleansed the world of Rallyn’s last mistake… in the druid’s eyes, at least.
Organization & Structure:
Today, the Justicars of the Mark are scattered. Rumors abound of a secret enclave in Midchantry, but the druids dismiss the notion that the Justicars could realistically gather in one place. Some poeple claim to have been healed by a Justicar, but the druids will also denounce any such claim – the Justicars represent Rallyn, and that god’s name is now a curse.
The mark (located on a person’s right shoulder blade) is passed down through bloodlines. Though humans are more likely to have the mark, it has been seen on most races of Edrilyn – if there were worshippers of the Bringer of Justice back in the day, then good ‘ole Rallyn may have “blessed” them with his mark… yet another poor judgment call on the God’s part. Who made him the god of justice anyway?
Being a secret society, not much is known of the Justicars. Some believe they have an organized rank structure, but nobody knows for certain. Bards and some peasants will claim they do, in fact, have the power to heal or smite with holy power – but the druids deny that. Who to believe?
